Oh the Possibilities

So since my Aunt is visiting I've had to stay in my little sister's room, however she has quite the collection of interesting things so it wasn't too bad...She'd kill me if she knew I was playing dress up with her things, but I just couldn't resist the purple bob.
What do you think? Is it me?

Today I had a lovely time downtown with my friend Sammi; we browsed in overpriced boutiques full of treasures I drooled over, I got a fabulous old necklace that was 75% off, and we ordered drinks at Starbucks as Tony Stark and Bruce Wayne (I ordered first and the woman spelled my name "Toni" on the cup which sucked and didn't even put Stark, but by the time she got to Sammi she put the real thing...oh well). Next we went to the library where we looked at children's books in other languages (mainly Arabic) and made up stories...I must stay, they were some interesting books.

The loveliest of days

Maybe turn on some Animal Collective

Today was an absolutely lovely day, sunny but not too hot either. The grass was the greenest of greens, and it put me in the mood to take pictures. Speaking of which, I got a lovely new camera. It's my first film camera, a Canon AE-1. It came with 3 lenses and a flash, all for $50 on craigslist! I've been snapping away pictures, and can't wait to finish the roll and see how they are!

Another reason for today's loveliness was me obtaining my license! I took the driving part a few days ago after much procrastination and passed, but I failed the written test which I retook today after a bit of studying. It's so exhilarating to drive by myself, with the window down and Coldplay playing as loud as I please.

The music of life

Take a listen to Bebe

Lazy Rivers

I could spend every day floating down a river. I really could.
Today I ventured out to the Clackmas river with some friends of my moms, and even though they were all at least twice my age and strangers I ended up having a fabulous time.
On the river time stands still, the past is forgotten and the future extends only to the next bend in the river.
Leaning back with the sun on my face, I just live.

Dream Labyrinths

I've been having really odd dreams lately; the other night I dreamt I was in a huge building full of winding corridors and stairs. I was being chased by all these bad guys, and was trying to escape and help others escape too...strange.
I did see Inception the other day which was pretty ok, so maybe that has something to do with it....

If you haven't heard of her, go check out Lykke Li. Right now. She's fantastic. When I first discovered her, I listened to her for like a month straight.

The Best Part of Portland

is by far, the music scene. I could probably go out any night and find a good band playing somewhere. As it is, I've started to branch out from the typical concerts at the Wonder and Crystal ballrooms, opting instead for more local schindings at cafes, etc.
Friday and Saturday night there was this 2 night music festival going on with a total of at least 10 bands playing. Located in a dingy building surrounded by concrete and broken glass, from the outside Rotture looks, to the untrained eye, like some shady bar or strip club with is pink lights. Once inside though, it's just another place to loose yourself to the music, brick walls strewn with some out of place streamers and a bunch of white balloons floating around. In both cases as the night wore on the music as well as the crowd got progressively better, a seething mass of bodies there to dance away the night.

From the dorky DJ to the sulky singer in Fake Drugs to the members of Wampire who stripped to their underwear, it was a very Portland event.

I mostly went for Wampire, Fake Drugs, and Deelay Ceelay, and ended up also liking Copy and Strength

Summer afternoons

Music, Glitter, and Mud

Mud squelching under my bare feet. Men on stilts crying warnings that an elephant is coming through. Mist sprinkling down on upturned faces, a relief from the burning sun.

This was my second year going to the Oregon Country Fair, and it was just as, and most likely more, magical than the first. It's a chance to get out that hippie skirt from Goodwill, to sprinkle glitter all over, to throw shoes to the side.

Liquid golden

Listening to You and Your Friend by Snake River Conspiracy (I don't like their other songs so much though...)

Lazy Summer Days

I spent the first two weeks of summer babysitting, and now that I'm finally free I've been spending most of my time...reading Harry Potter. That is, rereading. You would think after the first couple times I would be able to put it down, but apparently not. I think the 3rd might be my favorite...

I haven't been completely antisocial though, and yesterday went to have a ginormous donut with my friend from Voodoo Donuts (my computer says ginormous is spelled wrong and suggests "wginormous" instead. no joke). This is about 1/5th of the original donut.
Then I went home and had a dominion party with some friends, which is basically a really geeky game kind of like Settlers of Catan. It was fabulous. We dressed up and sat in a loft and played while eating popcorn.

Creepin

Most people can probably go out and get some frozen yogurt with a friend without anything too weird happening, but not me. Not only did we (my friend Leann and I) people watch, we also proceeded to make up stories about the people, and then take pictures of people...I think thats legal....

At first we were stumped about this one because we had seen the girl earlier and she looked quite cool with some turquoise tights, keds and a floral dress, much more likely to be driving a battered VW from the 80s or a bike. Then we realized that the car was obviously her boyfriend's, who she was probably in the process of cool-ifying (there was a rainbow peace sticker on the back).

As for this girl, we decided that she's one of those very fashionable people who always gets compliments on her artsy outfits from her friends and people in general. Her secret, we're sure, is that she actually buys her clothes at Walmart (!!!).
We saw her venturing into this rather punk store, Metro (where I found my favorite boots) after awkwardly lingering outside it looking in. We could tell she felt out of place there and was worried about the guy who had just walked in wearing all leather and a tail, but that the need for clothes overpowered this fear.

Are other people this creepy? Spill.
